![]() ![]() Posting here in case anybody else runs into the issue. I'm 100% convinced it's Krisp, as the issue begins again ~5 minutes after re-enabling Krisp but never occurs on Standard or None. ![]() After swapping back to Krisp, it was fine for about an hour and then started hissing again. Standard simply doesn't work.) The issue stopped entirely. I mean hell, it transmits my heartbeat and overhead fan. It is NOT an alternative and is about the same in performance as None. On a whim, I scrolled down to noise cancellation and swapped from Krisp to "Standard" (note: Standard should be "Substandard". ![]() Testing other voice methods (specifically Steam and Skype) there is zero background hiss. While the issue is occurring, if anybody in the server speaks my voice visualization drops in time with their voice as if they're somehow attenuating my mic, even though I and they have all attenuation turned off. There is NO commensurate detection in Windows' sound devices panel no noise is being picked up by the mic.Īfter speaking for at least 10 seconds, this stops then repeats ~30 second later. When the issue begins, Discord voice visualization starts blank but slowly ramps up until it hits ~-60dB (my threshold is -70). I sat there and watched the voice visualizer in frustration and noticed a few things: I tried almost everything to get it to stop: subsystem, audio tech toggles, a different port for my headset transceiver, a different headset altogether nothing worked. Then, ~30 seconds later it started again. A minute later the guy that had the issue months prior said "You're transmitting constant hiss." After I responded, he said it stopped. During our usual "sit in voice silence doing our own thing" I noticed that I was getting constant green ring, so I toggled Krisp off and on since that usually fixes cancellation issues. He contacted Discord support, but after a few boilerplate troubleshooting steps they simply stopped responding to him. He replaced his headset, swapped ports, swapped PSU in case of ground leak, even built a brand new computer (we was already planning it, this just pushed him forward). We'd be sitting in server chat when suddenly he'd start transmitting hiss until he spoke, after which the hiss would stop for ~30 seconds then start again. A few months back, this happened to a friend. ![]()
